Experienced Workers
If you are an experienced worker you may be able to achieve your qualification through On-Site Assessment and Training (OSAT) or the Experienced Worker Practical Assessment (EWPA).
OSAT is completed on site, during normal working days – no evenings, no college classes and no time off site.
Further information on OSAT (opens new window)is available from ConstructionSkills(opens new window)
EWPA involves assessing your skills and knowledge at an agreed location, either on site or at an approved assessment centre. It is not meant as a replacement for OSAT, but as an alternative alongside it – giving you and your employer more options when approaching qualifications.
How does EWPA work?
EWPA integrates the key criteria of the NVQ into one practical assessment together with work based evidence and employer endorsement, which must be completed within an allotted time frame. This helps you demonstrate the practical skills required for the NVQ. You then undergo a professional discussion with the assessor to assess your underpinning occupational knowledge and understanding.
