Quality assurance support: the use of evidence declarations
26 June 2009
You asked us to provide you with guidance on quality assurance issues as they are identified.
During recent quality assurance visits it has been found that evidence declarations are not always being used so this is a reminder of the regulatory requirements for evidence declarations.
The NVQ code of practice 2006 requires you to “provide a written declaration that the candidate evidence is authentic and that the assessment took place under the conditions and context set out in the assessment specification”. This means that you must ensure the assessor and candidate sign a written declaration either for the whole qualification, or if only units are being claimed, for each unit. The declaration should be the final task for the assessor and candidate to complete prior to the final verification of the qualification.
Your quality advisor will be happy to give you guidance with this requirement at your next visit.
