Foundation Learning Tier

From September 2010 the range of Construction Awards Alliance (CAA) qualifications recognised in the Foundation Learning Tier (FLT) will be increasing.

The following changes are planned:

• The current Level 1 Diplomas in Painting and Decorating, Bricklaying, Carpentry and Joinery, Plastering and Construction and Civil Engineering Services will be submitted for recognition into the FLT. As part of this work customers will be consulted to look at any improvements that could be made to the qualifications.
• The Foundation Certificate in Building Craft Occupations is being transitioned to the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) and will be available alongside the four Building Crafts Awards and Certificates which are already recognised as FLT.
• Following requests from customers work is underway with the ConstructionSkills Sector Skills Council (SSC) on providing certificate sized qualifications alongside the current Level 1 Diplomas in the FLT.
