Clarification on the assessment criteria for QCF
20 August 2010
QCF qualification specifications are now available from the qualification specification web search and contain learning outcomes and assessment criteria. While these look very similar to the NQF qualification standards, understanding the assessment criteria requires some thought.
To support you with the changes from NQF to QCF, and to give you an understanding of what assessors should be looking for, it is important to note the verb within each assessment criteria. For example, if the criterion requires the learner to 'describe', the assessment must be them 'describing' the situation for which they are being assessed. This example can be covered by a question however the question must ask the learner to 'describe' the situation.
